BSC Glasgow Kids Sign For Kilmarnock
BSC Glasgow are delighted to announce that Under-16s players Callum Shields and Fraser Cowan have graduated from our Academy set-up to sign for Premiership side Kilmarnock FC.
After the departure of Scottish Cup winning skipper Gio Vezza to Partick Thistle earlier this season this means THREE players from Broomhill Sports Club sides at this age level have now made it to Scotland’s top flight.
Defender Callum and striker Fraser have been training with Killie over the last six weeks and have won their permanent moves after impressing rugby Park Academy Director Paul McDonald.
Their team-mates Calum Hughes, Cavan Burns and Logan McCarthy continue to train at Killie and be assessed by the coaching staff there.
Our 2001s coach Robert Johnston said: “I am thrilled for both players to see them move on and get their chance at a club like Kilmarnock.
“They have both been excellent to work with and keen to learn and develop at Broomhill SC and this is the reward.”
The Club is proud of the development of our players, there is always a tinge of sadness when they leave but the ethos will always be to help make them the best they can be.
BSC Glasgow Director of Coaching Iain King said: “I have been lucky enough to work extensively with both teams we have at this age group this season and it has been a privilege.
“The work done by the coaching staffs both past and present has resulted in Callum and Fraser getting their moves and those coaches should be proud of their input.
“Kilmarnock have handled the moves for the boys with manners and professionalism and I’d like to personally wish Callum and Fraser every success as they both have what it takes to progress there.”
