MATCH PREVIEW :: Cumbernauld Colts vs. BSC Glasgow

By Sam Jenkinson

BSC kick off their Lowland League Cup campaign with a tough visit to local rivals Cumbernauld Colts this Friday night at Broadwood in the Yella Derby.

Stephen Swift’s introduction to the Lowland League has gone swimmingly so far, with six points from two games along with a clean sheet giving the new boss a platform to build on as they turn their focus to Lowland League Cup action.

Colts Co-Managers Craig McKinlay and James Orr have steered their side to an impressive sixth place finish, with a five-match winning run coming at crunch time in the Lowland League season.

They rounded off their league campaign last Saturday with a draw against eighth place Gala Fairydean Rovers to put them on 47 points, five above BSC.

The League Cup sees all 16 Lowland League sides entered a draw, with matches played during the SPFL Playoff Games. Last season saw East Kilbride pick up the trophy for the first time, defeating Gretna in the final.

BSC were taken down by last year’s runners up in the second round, and Stephen Swift will be hoping to engineer a more impressive run at the tournament this year.
