MATCH REPORT BSC UNDER 20's :: Gerry doubles up

BSC 2 v 0 Cumbernauld Colts

Adams got the League Cup campaign off to a winning start with a hard fought victory over Cumbernauld Colts at Toryglen on Friday evening.

The Colts had the better of the early play but the BSC defence held firm. It took until 10mins into the game for the first real chance to appear when an O'Donnell corner broke kindly for BSC captain Mark Toner and his shot narrowly missed the target.

Both sides exchanged possession and half chances in a keenly fought first half and it wasn't until the 40th minute that the deadlock was broken. A break on the left hand side from Ricardo Corrieri led to a pass to Gerry O'Donnell who guided home a close range shot, after the keeper had saved his original strike.

The second half started with Cumbernauld trying to force their way back into the game. The BSC defence gave away a couple of free kicks both of which were calmly dealt with by goalkeeper Joe Wilton.

BSC gradually took control of the game with O'Donnell and Corrieri looking dangerous every time BSC were on the attack. On the 80minute mark one such attack led to one of the games more bizarre moments when a Corrieri break led to a brilliant volley of the underside of the bar from O'Donnell which seemed to bounce up and hit the back of the net, with BSC celebrating the referee waved play on much to the BSC coaching staffs disgust.

A couple of minutes later O'Donnell did grab his second goal and it was worth waiting for. A foul on Husnain Mansoor led to a free kick which O'Donnell beautifully flighted over the wall and into the top left hand corner of the goal.

The game ended a couple of minutes later and a delighted BSC had secured their first competitive victory.
